Physical, Emotional and Mental steps on my journey towards healthy living on every level

Racquetball was strenuous again today. Jimmy won the first game 17-15, and then I beat Dominyk 15-4. Then I came back to beat Jimmy 16-14, and 15-11. But I really worked up a sweat, something I try very hard not to do.

Racquetball Day 2

Today I beat Dominyk twice, Sadie once, and Jimmy twice. I’m working my way up. Playing with Jimmy was a challenge -- he played tennis this last year in school, so he can hit -- he just doesn’t have the angles down yet. John is saying he wants to play me next.

But it was an hour of exercise, and my back didn’t hurt much, so that’s an accomplishment...

I played racquetball for an hour. Now, I played Sadie and Dominyk, so it wasn’t strenuous, but there is a story that goes with this.

In the mid 80’s I played racquetball a lot. In fact, from 86-88 I played at 6:00 a.m. with some friends. But in late 89 I hurt my back playing it, and haven’t returned to the court since then.

I am pretty excited that I could even stand for the hour -- last fall I couldn’t even make it through five minutes of walking without pain.

Now tomorrow I am going to play Jimmy and see if I get more of a workout.

Back in the Exercize Bike Saddle Again

Weighed myself today at the Y before working out. Down to 280. That means I’ve lost 40 pounds in 5 months. Not good enough, but OK....

I keep telling myself that I am waiting until I lose 50 before I buy new clothes, but my pants especially are driving me crazy. They are way too big but I hate to buy clothes and then lose more. Besides, maybe if they drive me crazy enough it will motivate me to lose more.
