Did it Again...

Went to the fitness center. Unfortunately there were two women who had already been going an hour (according to treadmill times) who insisted on going another half hour so I ended up riding 7 miles on the bike before I did 10 minutes on the treadmill.

Yup, i did it. Worked out in a hotel fitness center for a full 40 minutes.

Never thought I'd do it.

And it hd big windows where everyone could watch.

But I don't think anyone did.

Getting It Done in the Morning

There is nothing better than having your exercise for the day done before your day starts. Having my workout done and my shower with a few minutes to spare before the kids get up always gives me a better start to my day.

Weighed in again. Gained 1.5 pounds, but it is no surprise the way I've been eating. I need to go back to no moderation and just be really strict, but with all my travel it's more difficult.

So back to trying again...

Clothes From the Mall and Moving WALKways

Yesterday Bart made me go clothes shopping. And I shopped at the mall. And things fit.

Grant it, they were still the largest sizes available at the mall, but for so many years there has been nothing that has fit me even in the Plus Size Stores. So this was quite the victory. I still hate shopping, but he says it's a cute outfit. Maybe if I remember I'll have him take a picture today and I"ll post it.

I also found out that walking on the moving walkways is quite speedy. I used to have to lean on the rail to recover from my back pain .... today I just moved right along free of pain.

And as I posted on my other blog, I didn't need a seatbelt extension. A few minor victories, but victories nonetheless.

So even though I'm not watching what I eat at the moment and not losing, I'm not gaining. ANd I'lll be on track again soon.

Gotta Have a Time Limit

Now This is HILARIOUS. Here I am, a person who six months ago never moved and now if I don't have a time limit I spend more time on the Wii Fit or on Dance Dance Revolution than I should. I even have some sore muscles. But hey, it's better than The Queen of Sedentary...

The Weigh In and the New Toy

Weighed in this morning. No loss, no gain. Whew, no gain. I ate like there was no tomorrow for 4 days.

And for my birthday I got "Dance Dance Revolution: Hottest Party Ever" and was very excited to start working out on it. Spent some time on it yesterday afternoon and again last night and some more time this afternoon. It takes a while to get the swing of things, but i'm starting to get it.

Don't know if I'll ever get off beginner... but then again, I thought that about the Wii Fit games too...

A Huge Accomplishment

On March 11th I went back to the YMCA> and yesterday marked six months since I have been there at least 4 times a week. In the last 3 months I don't think there has been a week gone buy where I haven't exercised at least 4 times a week, sometimes as many as 7. And each time it has been at least 30 sometimes as much as 90 minutes a day.

For me this is a huge accomplishment....

A nap or a Wii workout

Often mid afternoon I get really tired. Especially if I wake up at 5. So today I got really tired and decided to work out on the Wii Fit instead of taking a nap.

Right now I feel energized. I hope I don't crash and burn later in the day.

Tuesday and Wednesday morning workouts

Yesterday I worked out on the Wii Fit for 28 minutes (mediocre workout) and then walked with Bart last night.

This morning I did my 40 minutes at the Y -- 10 on bike, 30 on treadmill. Interval workout -- first 4 intervals at 4.3 at 3.0 incline. Last three intervals at 4.4 at 4.0 incline.

Weigh in for Monday

Haven't lost, haven't gained (which I was surprised about since I ate like crazy the last three days). Planning to do much better in the days to come in that area.

Did 40 minutes at the Y. Did my intervals longer -- 1.5 minute interval with 1.5 minute recovery. Did them at 3.0 incline with 2.8 as my recovery speed and 4.2 as my interval speed.

Where Else Can You Be Told You're Perfect Again and Again

If you've ever played the Wii fit you know that on the steps program each stepped is either missed, OK, or Perfect. I am kind of getting addicted to seeing the words **Perfect** slash across my screen again and again and again. It's very rewarding.

Today I beat my high score (which was also the family high) on the Advanced Steps game and beat the family score on the Beginning Boxing game (and you think you're all that, Leon!) Spent 41 minutes on it, when 30 was all I planned, but I just wanted to beat that high score...

A couple other interesting tidbits of news. I felt something last night. It was a bone. I really didn't know that there was a bone where this particular bone is.

And the secretary at the Junior High said, "Wow, you've lost a lot of weight since I last saw you."

YMCA again this morning

Rand and I both went. Yes, I am forcing him to go, but he doesn't seem to mind it as much as I thought he might. I'm hoping he will build on success. He has been going back at night to lift weights, so he seems to be somewhat motivated.

I did intervals for 30 minutes at 4.0 incline with 4.5 mph -- and on the last 2 intervals, 4.6 the fastest I've ever gone. It is really close to running, but the incline makes it more like very fast walking...

We have been going at 5:30 but that is limiting my time in the morning before the kids get up. Might have to start going earlier next week. I've just been so tired by evening....

Two Big Guys and Me

jimmy and Rand went to the Y with me this morning. I'm trying to encourage Rand to spend his time wisely and work at being healthier. They both went with me on Tuesday as well.

My workout was a bit mediocre.... i did what I usually do, but I think as I get in better shape I'm having to work harder to get my heart rate up. I asked for a heart rate monitor for my birthday.... we'll see if I get one.

So yeah, 40 minutes at the Y -- 10 on the bike, 30 on the treadmill -- intervals at 4.4 mph, 3.5 incline, recovering at 2.8.

Need to start increasing that again...

And the Beat Goes On

Monday night I walked a long time with Bart even though I had exercised in the morning for a full hour. And then yesterday between my Y workout (didn't gain or lose at the weigh in) and all my trips around all these schools for conferences, I put in 11,000 steps.

This morning I was on the Wii fit. Leon had gone on to try and beat my boxing score and did it, but I tied his hi this morning.

And I was only a few steps away from a perfect score on Advanced Steps. If you know anything about the Wii fit, you know it isn't easy.

A Little Touch of OCD never hurt anyone

I get a little obsessive.

And this morning, I couldn't stop playing the Wii fit. I know, I know, 6 monhts ago I couldnt' stand up for 10 minutes without back pain, but determined to beat the high scores of these teenagers around here, I couldn't stop balancing myself down ravines in a bubble, or stepping to the beat on and off a balance pad, or swaying my hula hooping hips. And it paid off. I beat my own previous records in Advanced Steps and Beginning Boxing and those are high scores I have held for a long time. Not to mention the fact that I have completely beat both soccer games.

Who would have thought six months ago I'd have to make myself walk away from exercise? Gotta love it....
