Update and Why I haven't Blogged

Reasons I haven’t blogged:

1) The scales that said I had already lost weight were not correct. Truth is, I have only lost 25 not 35.

2) Last time I weighed on the same correct scales I had weighed on before I had gained a pound. This made me very crabby.

3) I have had lots of poop problems. Not pooping enough, pooping too much. Now apparently there are side effects to Dieter’s Tea which I am experiencing this very moment.

4) I am not going to be getting my band filled on Monday like I was supposed to because of a business trip. Then, because of another trip I have to wait until March 23rd to get my first fill, which means that the “feel full” feeling isn’t happening.

5) I am not eating exactly what I am supposed to eat and so I hate posting it.

6) I was doing great with exercise but the past 3 days I have felt awful and been so busy trying to get ready for my trip that I haven’t gone. Fitness center closes at 5 on Saturdays as well, so I probably won’t be able to go again until Thursday. Not good.

Enough reasons?

Charmers

Mike made plans after I told him three times that I would not give him a ride. He says he forgot (possible, with FAS) but I was angry and did not want to spend an hour in the van on a night when it was 10 below zero. However, I did not have the emotional energy to listen to him either, so I broke down and agreed to take him.

The whole trip he was so charming and nice even after I was very crabby and yelled at him. ANd when I got home John had completely cleared the edge of the driveway where all the stupid snow plow snow piles up -- to repay me for the hour of my time I spent on Mike when I really didn’t want to.

Discouraged and Frustrated

Because of upcoming business and family trips, I will not be able to have my band filled until March 23rd. Right now I can eat a lot more than I should be. Yesterday I was gone all day and out of it and busy all day today, so I didn’t get my exercise in. Lots of stress causes me to want to eat a lot more than I should and now that I can....

And if you think I’m posting what I eat when I’m being naughty you’re WRONG. ;-)

What I Ate on February 14, 2006

I had three meals like I’m supposed to today, they were just at weird times.

8        6 oz decaf Iced Tea
12        equivalent of one large potato skin with cheese and bacon, 2 pieces of chicken thai pizza (I know this seems like a lot, but it’s about 1/4 of what I would have had there on a regular day)

2        2 oz decaf tea
4        1 cordial cherry kiss
6        1 cup chicken stir fry
9        2 pieces of chicken thai pizza

This morning I’m finishing up the pizza for breakfast -- so, I am actually having one meal stretch into three.

I also spent 25 minutes on the treadmill.

Uh Oh

Started “real foods” yesterday and didn’t have a lot to eat, but apparently that, combined with the stress of the morning has my blood sugar at 133 today. That is not encouraging.

I haven’t been posting what I eat because I haven’t been following things exactly and that is shameful.... in addition to not having time to remember to write it down.

But here’s yesterday:

9 am                1 piece wheat toast, 1 scrambled egg
10 am        2 oz water
11                2 oz water
12                19 reduced fat wheatables, spinach artichoke dip
2                4 oz cranberry white grape (100%) juice
4                2 handfuls potato chips (I know, I know, I know....)
6                1/2 cup mashed potatos, 1/2 cup green beans, very small piece of salsburry steak
9                100% fruit popsicle

Went a whole mile on the treadmill = 25 minutes.

8        4 oz decaf tea

10        8 oz milk with instant breakfast
12        3 oz beans, sprinkling of cheese, sour cream
1         4 oz juice
2        2 oz water
4        2 oz water
6        2 oz mashed potatoes, 1 oz canned chicken
7        4 oz juice

Exercise: 25 minutes on treadmill

8        4 oz milk with Carnation Instant Breakfast
10        4 oz hot tea
12        2 oz beans, sprinkle of cheese, 2 oz barbqued pork
2        2 oz water
5        2 oz water
6        2 oz canned turkey with light mayo
8        4 oz 100% cherry juice

Exercise: 20 minutes on the treadmill

9        1/4 cup cottage cheese, 1/4 cup mandarin organges
10        4 oz dieter’s tea
11        4 oz milk with Carnation Instant Breakfast
12        1/4 cup refried beans
2        4 oz water
3        4 oz watere
5        2 oz canned turkey with light mayo
7        4 oz water

I felt AWFUL yesterday -- lots of gas and stomach pain, so i didn’t exercise. It turns out that if you don’t play exactly by the rules, you PAY!

8        1 egg, sprinkling of cheese
99        4 oz dieter’s tea
10        4 oz water
11        1 oz soup, 2 oz mashed potatoes, 1/2 corn muffin
12        4 oz water, 1 spoonful of frozen custard
2        2 oz water
6        1/4 cup mashed potatos, 1/4 cup green beans and peas (mushy)
7        4 oz water
8        4 oz water, 1 hand-ful very well chewed popcorn
9        4 oz water


Exercise: None -- took the day off

Note: I had some pain today. Probably shouldn’t be breaking any rules -- corn muffin may have been hard to digest.

4        2 oz flavored water
6        4 oz beans, sprinkling of cheese, dollop of sour cream
8        4 oz water

NOTE: beans twice a day probably wasn’t a good idea, but they sure taste good.

Blood Sugar AVERAGE

my AVERAGE blood sugar for the past 3 weeks is 102.57. Do you know how incredible that is?

For someone who was right around 140 every morning for months, this is amazing.

People ask me how much weight I want to lose: My response is that I want my diagnosis of diabetes to disappear and I want to be able to walk without pain -- everything beyond that is bonus.

We’re getting there.
