Day One of Spark People.

Well, it's 2:06. For breakfast, I had one cup of cheerios with sweetener, 1 % milk, and a banana.

For lunch I had one grilled turkey and cheese sandwich and 3 dried peaches.

I've had nothing to drink but water.

I exercised for ten minutes.

My son Tony is joining me.

I hurt something near my elbow on Saturday when I played racquetball so I am not sure when I can play next, which is quite unfortunate.

So, I'm doing it, but I can't say that i'm feeling all that excited about it.

If you Can't Beat Them, Get them to Join You

I invited the kids to begin the Spark People Diet with me on Monday. Several of them agreed to, but the girls, who were most energetic about the idea, are the ones who need to lose weight the least.

We went to weigh in today and I am embarrassed at how much I have managed to gain back. I am not even posting it right now. But a few more are going to weigh in tomorrow.

I also played racquetball and was so upset to know that I had gained back so much weight that it now hurts my back to play racquetball. I really need to get back into shape.

I'm goign to sign on to the website and pick some new habit changes for the coming week. I hope there aren't any that are too hard. :-)

A Small Breakthrough

Well, the whole spark people dieting plan did not go so well. I had such a horrendous weekend last weekend that I couldn't bring myself to jump in.

However, spark people does challenge people to do three habit changing things each week in each of three categories. I didn't challenge myself too much. I chose 2 things that I usually do pretty well at: getting 8 hours of sleep a night, and writing in a journal once a day. Since I blog more than once a day and know better than to get sleep deprived, those two were easy.

But the third one I chose was HARD. Giving up all pop -- diet or otherwise. I haven't had a single sip of soda for 6 days now. I don't know that it is making that much of a difference, but it is nice to be successful at something!

Trying Again

I came across a website called Spark People. It has all the resources of weight watchers online and more and it is free. I'm not even getting paid to tell you about it.

It helps set up a diet plan ... meals, grocery lists, fitness plans and everything. I've got it set up and I've printed my grocery list. Tomorrow I'm going to the grocery store and buy what I need for the week. I'm going to see if Bart can try to arrange meals around it.

We'll see how it goes. I also intend to weigh myself at the YMCA tomorrow and play racquetball.

If you've been following our family blog then you know that I am investing tons of emotional energy lately into the futures of my children who don't appear to care. Maybe now I will be able to focus on eating healthy. I will report back and let you know how it goes.
